It has been reported by Sports that Pep Guardiola has given his Assistant Mikel Arteta his blessing to speak with Arsenal as the Spaniard prepares to succeed Arsene Wenger as Arsenal manager.
Mikel Arteta has emerged as the favourite to replace Wenger, whose reign as Arsenal manager has come to an end last Sunday. Arsenal had shortlisted the likes of Massimiliano Allegri and Luis Enrique, but their wage demands and concerns over the amount of transfer funds available to oversee a sizable rebuilding job appear to have ruled them out of the running.
Arsenal Chief executive Ivan Gazidis is intent on hiring a younger coach and is convinced Arteta boasts all the right attributes to move the club forward from where Wenger left off. Hoffenheim’s Julian Nagelsmann was also under consideration but the 30-year-old is committed to leading the German club into their maiden Champions League campaign.

Sport reports that Arteta held talks with Guardiola and Manchester City’s director of football Tixi Begiristain on Thursday, outlining Arsenal’s proposal.
The 36-year-old played a key role in City’s record-breaking Premier League title-winning campaign but Guardiola is understood to empathise with Arteta’s desire to advance his career. Arteta is now expected to hold formal talks with Arsenal and an announcement could be made as early as next week.
